Our Mission
The Forney Museum of Transportation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which exists to collect, preserve, and exhibit items of artistic, historical and technological interest relating to transportation for the purposes of education and personal enrichment.
Donation Guidelines
All donations are reviewed by the Donation Review Committee. The Forney Museum of Transportation may not accept certain donations based on the following criteria:
Condition
Duplication within the collection.
Inability to properly preserve or display.
Outside the scope of our mission.
For the Donor
Please provide the museum the following in order for your donation to be considered:
- A detailed description of the item(s). If multiple objects, then a comprehensive inventory list.
- Photographs of each object.
- A completed donation application.
Note: The Museum may not place every donation it receives on display. The Museum reserves the right regarding either temporary or permanent display of donated item(s). Appropriate space, relevance, and theming will be determining factors.
Bulk magazine donations require an inventory list to assist The Museum in determining their usefulness. Recent issues may not be accepted.
Thank you for considering the Forney Museum for your donation. Your cooperation with our accession process is gratefully appreciated. Should your donation not be accepted, we will (to the best of our ability) be happy to assist you in finding a more appropriate organization as recipients.

Forney Bike Drive
2026 Bike Drive
In an effort to improve equity in cycling and transportation, the Annual Bike Giveaway event gives bikes, helmets, locks and accessories to adults and children in need. In August 2021, our partners got together at the Valdez-Perry Branch Library to generate interest and share resources with the community on bike repair, bike paths, local bike libraries and more! Thanks to supporters and partners, we gave away a total of 83 bikes and fixed up 10 bikes for community members at the annual event. To keep this initiative going, the Forney is continuing to accept donations all year round.
